Royals Sweep Cobbers in First MIAC Match

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn.— The Bethel University women's tennis team continued their dominant play as they rolled to a 9-0 sweep of Concordia College. Bethel entered Saturday's match coming off a dominant previous weekend where they defeated both Northwestern College (Iowa) and Bethany Lutheran College by scores of 9-0. The Royals didn't give Concordia any breathing room as they started the day off by sweeping all three doubles matches.  They continued to roll as they handily won all singles matches.

No. 1 singles player Sydney Parkinson and No. 3 singles player Jill Weinzettel joined up to win 8-0 as the No. 1 doubles team.  Both Parkinson and Weinzettel went on to dominate their singles matches as well.  Mattie Kidder and Sami Hindt handled their No. 2 doubles match, defeating their opponent 8-0.  Hindt also won her match at No. 4 singles by a score of 6-0 and 6-1.  The Royals had their way with the Cobbers throughout the afternoon, as the closest match of the day was at No. 5 singles where Mattie Lubben won 6-0 and 6-2.  Sydney Parkinson and Mattie Kidder had impressive outings at No. 1 and No. 2 singles both winning 6-0 and 6-0.

The Royals will look to continue their success next Friday against last year's MIAC champions, St. Thomas, at 6:30 p.m.  The match will be held at the Baseline Tennis Center.
