Two Double-Doubles Help Royals End Knights' Five-Game Win Streak

NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Bethel University's women's basketball team picked up a huge 96-61 road victory over Carleton College Wednesday evening in Northfield. The Royals (16-4, 11-2 MIAC) shot 50 percent from the floor and 50 percent from long range, which propelled them to a 35-point win over the Knights (7-13, 5-8 MIAC), who had come in with a five-game winning streak.

For the first time all season, five BU players scored in double figures and two recorded a double-double. Bethel finished the night shooting 36-of-72 from the floor and an even more impressive 12-of-24 from downtown. Not only were the Royals firing on all cylinders offensively, but they also were clicking on defense as well. Carleton shot just 28.6 percent throughout the game, including a 2-of-10 slump from outside the arc.

Taite Anderson posted her fourth career double-double with a game-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, two steals, and two assists, while Hannah Johnson tallied her fifth career double-double on 14 points, 10 rebounds, and seven blocks.

Also having a standout performance was Jasmin Bretoi, who finished 6-of-9 from downtown for 18 points in just 19 minutes played. Rounding out Bethel's top five scorers was Abby Miller and Shanni Moorse, who each poured in 11 points. Miller added three assists, two rebounds, and two steals to her stat line, while Moorse collected three boards and two assists.

Bethel's bench, who saw nine players contribute, outscored Carleton 31-12. Moreover, BU outscored the Knights 15-5 in points off of turnovers. Speaking of turnovers, the Royals limited their mistakes to 10 during the entire 40-minute contest, which is a team-low this season.

BU will put their own six-game win streak on the line Saturday, when they play host to the College of Saint Benedict—who is one spot back in the MIAC standings—at 1 p.m. The Royals will celebrate alumni day prior to the weekend matinee and all former players are welcome to come back and play a pickup game at 10 a.m. (registration).
