Kristin Stern Honored to AVCA All-Region Team
LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the NCAA Division III Regional Awards Thursday morning and among the 14 players honored from the Central Region was Bethel's senior middle blocker Kristin Stern.
Â
Stern finished the season with 332 kills and 82.0 total blocks, while hitting an unfathomable .326 throughout the year. The Sioux Falls, S.D., native posted 64 kills, 15.0 blocks, and a .263 hitting percentage against five regionally-ranked opponents, and 57 kills, 14.0 blocks, and a .288 average against four nationally-ranked opponents. Stern was among the Top 50 players nationwide in hitting percentage and among the Top 150 in total blocks and total kills.
Â
The 2014 MIAC Rookie of the Year and three-time MIAC All-Conference recipient finished her four-year tenure at Bethel with a hitting percentage of .335, which shatters Bethel's previous mark for career hitting percentage of .271, which was set by Carrie Ritland from 1996-99.
