RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Bethel University women's hockey team took an early 1-0 lead on No. 4 ranked UW-River Falls for the second consecutive night, but also for the second consecutive night, the Falcons scored in bunches to pull away from Bethel and take a 5-2 victory. The Royals scored the lone goal in the first period but then the Falcons scored three times in the second and twice more in the third before Bethel was able to score again late in the third period.
Sarina Goos scored both of Bethel's goals. The first came just over three minutes into the game and was unassisted. The last came with just 1:14 remaining in the game on a power play with
Kaitlyn VanTassel and
Bailey Thompson assisting.
Maggie Straka made 45 saves in net for Bethel and the Royals stopped all four Falcons power play opportunities. The Royals were 1-2 in their power plays.
The Royals fall to 2-2 on the year and now turn their attention to MIAC play as the will take on Augsburg University next weekend. Friday's contest is at Augsburg with Saturday taking place at Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center in Blaine. Both games start at 7 p.m.
