STEVENS POINT, Wis. - The Bethel University men's hockey team scored three power play goals against the No. 3 ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point but the Pointers scored three power play goals of their own plus three even strength goals to take the 6-3 victory. After a scoreless first period UWSP scored the first two goals of the game in the second period. Bethel came back and tied the game with consecutive scores within a minute and a half of each other later in the period to make it 2-2. The Pointers recaptured the lead before the period ended however, scoring with just 11 seconds remaining. The Pointers pulled away early in the third period, scoring three goals within the first five minutes. Bethel was able to get one back late in the third but it was not enough for the Royals to get back in the game.
Oliver Trachsel scored the first Bethel goal and
Peter Barral scored the second during the second period.
Tyler Mros scored the final goal as Bethel went 3-9 on the power play, a great improvement after going 1-9 the night before against UW-Eau Claire.
Joe Sheppard made 40 saves in net for Bethel.
The loss drops Bethel to 0-4 on the season as they enter MIAC play. The Royals return to action with a Tuesday evening trip to Collegeville, Minnesota to take on the 4-0 Johnnies of Saint John's University.
