No. 13 UW-Eau Claire Beats Bethel, 6-2


EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Bethel University men's hockey team traveled to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and fell to the No. 13 ranked UWEC Blugolds by a 6-2 score. The Blugolds scored twice in each period while Bethel scored just once in the second and third periods. For the game the Royals actually outshot the Blugolds by a 32-30 margin. Bethel had nine power play opportunities but were only able to score once despite the good chances. 

The Blugolds first two scores came within 30 seconds of each other at 4:29 and 4:59 in the first period. Despite five power plays for the Royals in the first period, Bethel was unable to score. The Blugolds scored the first two goals of the second period as well, building their lead to 4-0 before the Royals got on the board. Peter Barral scored off an assist from Tyler Mros at 12:30 in the second period. UWEC kept Bethel scoreless the rest of the second period and then scored again early in the third period to push the lead to 5-1. Bethel converted a power play midway through the third period with Dallas Marvin scoring off assists from Kurtis Redding and goalie Aaron Furlano. UWEC added one more score just two minutes later however to seal the game.

The loss drops Bethel to 0-3 on the season and the Royals will face another tough test when they take on the No. 3 ranked UW-Stevens Point Pointers on Saturday night. The Pointers are coming off a 2-1 loss to Hamline Friday night. The Pointers and Royals will faceoff at 7 p.m. in Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
