MINNEAPOLIS - The Bethel University men's hockey team fell to the No. 4-ranked Augsburg University Auggies by a 6-1 final score Saturday night. The Auggies scored the first six goals, one in the first period, three in the second period and two in the third, before Bethel was able to get on the board late in the third period. Jackson Purvis scored the Bethel goal with assists from Tyler Mros and Johan Kling. Purvis' goal came on a Bethel power play as the Royals were 1-7 on the power play and Augsburg was 1-4. The Auggies outshot the Royals 38-25.
The loss keeps Bethel looking for their first win of the season as they are now 0-7 on the season. Six of those seven losses have come to teams ranked in the Top 15 in NCAA DIII. The Auggies kept their record unbeaten at 6-0. The Royals will turn their attention to the Concordia College Cobbers as Bethel will travel to Moorhead, Minnesota for the weekend series.
