ST. PAUL—Bethel University's women's basketball team traveled to St. Paul Wednesday night to face the University of St. Thomas in a battle of unbeatens in MIAC play and it was the Tommies (11-0, 5-0 MIAC) that came away with the 71-62 victory over the Royals (9-3, 4-1 MIAC).
Foul trouble hampered Bethel throughout the night, as
Taite Anderson fouled out of the game and both
Kalli Zimmermann and
Hannah Johnson finished with four. BU's bigger setback was UST outrebounding them 44-33, which led to an 18-6 difference in second-chance points.
Where the Royals found success was in their bench, as BU outscored the Tommies 26-7. One reason for that was sophomore
Hannah Johnson, who finished with her second double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. Behind Johnson was
Taite Anderson, who added 13 points, seven boards, four steals, and three assists.
Abby Miller also scored in double figures with 10 points and two assists.
Kaitlin Langer had a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds for St. Thomas, while Lauren Fischer posted 14 points and nine boards.
BU looks to rebound Saturday, when they play host to Augsburg College in the Robertson Center at 1 p.m.
