Late Goal Tilts Back-and-Forth Affair to Johnnies, 5-4

BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel University Men's Hockey team fell just short Saturday night against Saint John's University by a score of 5-4 at Bethel University Arena. The Royals came out flying, scoring forty-five seconds into the game on a redirection by Jay Paul with the single assist going to Adam Marty. The next forty minutes were a back and forth battle that saw eight goals by both teams. Also scoring for the royals was Dallas Marvin on a beautiful pass from Nick Eytcheson, Peter Barral from Marty and George Splichal from Lincoln Eiter and Barral. Splichal's goal tied the game at 4-4 with just 4:34 remaining in the game and the Royals earned a power play due to a slashing call on the goal. The Johnnies were able to score on shorthanded breakaway off a Royals turnover with 3:30 left in the game to take the 5-4 victory.

The loss for the Royals keeps them searching for their first MIAC win and drops their record to 1-14-2 overall and 0-6-2 in MIAC play. The victory for the Johnnies brings them to a record of 10-6-3 and 5-3-2 in MIAC play. The next home game will be next Friday, January 27th as the Royals host the Hamline University Pipers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
