ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—The Bethel University women's basketball team picked up their third straight win in Saturday's 74-51 victory over Hamline University. The Royals (13-4, 8-2 MIAC) shot 43.4 percent from the field and made 21-of-28 shots from the free throw line en route to the 23-point win over the Pipers (5-12, 2-8 MIAC).
BU dominated the boards, which proved to be one of many key differentiators Saturday. The Royals outrebounded Hamline 45-27, which led to a 9-4 advantage in second-chance points and a 26-22 margin in points in the paint.
The Royals' defense was also dominant, as they held the Pipers to 35.2 percent shooting from the floor and 36.4 percent shooting from long range.
Four players scored in double figures for Bethel. Included in the quartet was
Taite Anderson, who finished with a game-high 15 points and six rebounds. Also having a great day offensively was
Abby Miller, who posted 13 points.
Hannah Johnson continued her dominant stretch in January with her third double-double since the start of the new year. Johnson, who came into the game averaging 12.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks since January 1, finished Saturday with 11 points, 10 boards, five blocks, and two steals.
Angie Kirchoff added 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while
Hannah Simpson tallied six points and eight boards.
Bethel hopes to extend their winning steak Wednesday in Northfield, where they'll take on St. Olaf at 7 p.m.
