NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Bethel University's volleyball team dropped a five-set heartbreaker at Carleton College Wednesday night. The No. 18-ranked Royals (10-4, 0-2 MIAC) took a 2-1 lead after three sets played, but the Knights (9-2, 1-1 MIAC) rallied with a 26-24 victory in the fourth and a 18-16 triumph in the fifth.

BU finished the night with 72 points on 52 kills, six aces, and 14 blocks. Tina Hoppe led the Royals with a 19-kill and 19-dig performance, while Callie Sinclair also manufactured double-digit kills. Sinclair finished with 13 kills and 14 digs.

Holly Ellwanger recorded 27 assists, nine digs, and nine digs over the course of five games played. Katie Lubben composed 12 assists and nine digs, while Dominique Dabu posted 17 digs.

The road doesn't get any easier for the Royals, who are continuing to battle injuries. Bethel welcomes No. 25-ranked Northwestern Friday evening and then the College of Saint Benedict Saturday afternoon.
