WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis.—Bethel University saw it's eight-game winning streak come to a close Friday afternoon after falling to No. 9-ranked UW-Oshkosh by a final score of 54-46. The Royals (9-2) narrowed the gap to 41-44 with 4:29 remaining in the final frame, but the Titans (10-1) closed out the nonconference contest with a 10-5 run and secured the eight-point victory.
Â
BU was held to its lowest score of the season, as the Royals shot just 35.6 percent from the floor and 35.7 percent from the 3-point line.
Abby Miller gave the Royals all she had, pouring in 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 6-of-8 from the foul line, but Bethel had just one other player score more than five points throughout the entire 40 minutes of play.
Â
Foul trouble certainly played a factor as the Royals' two-leading scorers—
Kalli Zimmermann and
Taite Anderson—both fouled out. As a result, UW-Oshkosh was able to get to the charity stripe 24 times, opposed to BU, who was 9-of-12 from the free throw line. That proved to be the difference for the Titans, as Bethel cleaned up in both bench points (25-8) and points in the paint (18-12).
Â
Still perfect in MIAC play, BU returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, January 4, when they travel to St. Paul for a highly anticipated matchup against the University of St. Thomas, who is also unbeaten in conference action. Â Tipoff at
Schoenecker Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
