The Bethel University men's hockey team will open up the 2016-17 season Saturday night and Sunday afternoon in the annual MIAC Hockey Showcase taking place at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota. The Royals will be taking on defending MIAC champion and preseason favorite Augsburg College in the opening game of the weekend for the Royals on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in Rink 2. Sunday afternoon Bethel takes on Hamline University at 3 p.m. in Rink 4. The 2016 MIAC Men's Hockey Showcase will open the season in style as the popular three-day event features all nine MIAC teams making their season debuts. The Showcase will have three games each day going on simultaneously, with start times staggered by 30 minutes. The Showcase will be held Oct. 28, 29 and 30, with each of the nine MIAC teams playing two games over the course of the weekend to drop the puck on the 2016-17 season in style. The Showcase games will be counted as nonconference games in the standings, and serve as a season-opening celebration of the only Division III conference in "The State of Hockey."

The Royals are eager to carry over the momentum from a strong finish to last season as they won two of their last three games and now welcome in 11 newcomers to the roster to go along with 18 returners.

Saturday's game will not have live video but live stats can be found here. Sunday will have live video and live stats also found here
