MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team lost a heart breaking game Saturday afternoon in Moorhead, Minnesota against Concordia College, 3-2 in overtime. The game swung in both directions as the Concordia scored twice in the first half and Bethel twice in the second half.
Concordia had a 2-0 half time lead thanks to goals scored by Sam Gess and Austin Peterson. The Royals came back and responded quickly to cut the lead in half with a goal by
Carson Thomas. With time winding down the Royals were able to tie the game up in the 87
th minute thanks to a goal by
Danny Jaderholm.
Spencer Pearson was credited with the assist on the goal that would force the game into overtime.
Overtime did not treat the Royals well however as they gave up the game winning goal seven minutes in, losing the match 3-2.
Shots were even on both sides at 19 and saves were even on both sides with 7.
The Royals (8-7-1, 2-7-1) are in action next on Tuesday where they will host their last home game of the year against Hamline University at 3:30 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
