ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Domination station returned to the Robertson Center Gym, where the Royals had won 15 straight prior to Wednesday night's 62-66 setback against Augsburg. Bethel University's men's basketball team used their most recent loss as fuel for Saturday's 104-66 rout over Hamline University. The Royals (11-3, 6-3 MIAC) outscored the Pipers (3-11, 1-8 MIAC) 53-31 in the final 20 minutes en route to the 38-point victory.
Â
The two teams were knotted at 24-24 with 8:32 remaining in the first half, but a 24-9 run for BU over the next seven minutes gave the Royals more than enough separation for the remainder of the game. Bethel's momentum from the final minutes of the first frame carried into the second, as BU led by as many as 25 with 12:02 remaining. Leading by 31 with 7:34 left in the game, Bethel's players with limited minutes this season ended the game on a 17-10 run.
Â
The Royals were relentless in the paint, outscoring Hamline 50-30. The same was true when comparing bench points, as Bethel outscored the Pipers 45-28. Perhaps the most telling stat throughout the afternoon matinee, however, was Bethel's 36-18 advantage in rebounds.
Â
BU finished the contest shooting 66.7 percent from the floor and 58.3 percent from the 3-point line. 13 different players scored throughout the 40 minutes of play and five finished in double figures.
