ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team lost a tough 2-0 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference battle with Carleton College Wednesday evening. The Knights scored both of their goals in the first half in the rematch of the 2014 first round MIAC playoff matchup. Carleton outshot Bethel by just a 14-10 margin, seven-to-three on shots on goal.
The Knights first goal came at the 18:40 mark as their leading scorer, Ava Lewis, scored her fifth goal of the season. Their next tally came just before the end of the first half, with just 1:15 remaining. Neither team scored in the second half as the two goalies combined to make just three saves in the period.
For Bethel, the loss drops the Royals to 0-4 in the MIAC and 2-7 overall. Carleton improved to 2-2 in the MIAC and 4-4-1 overall. Next up for the Royals will be another tough MIAC opponent in defending champion and #19-ranked Augsburg College Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
