WINONA, Minn. – The Bethel University men's soccer team traveled to Winona, Minnesota on Saturday afternoon to take on the Saint Mary's University Cardinals and the two teams played to a 0-0 draw. Despite a combined 31 shots, including 13 on goal, neither team was able to find the back of the net.
Jakob Bartels posted his second shutout of the season in goal for Bethel, making seven saves. For the season Bartels has allowed just 14 goals in eight games while also scoring a goal of his own.
"I am proud of the way our guys battled today," said Royals head coach
Jeremy Iwaszkowiec. "We had a very good effort defensively and I am happy for the guys getting a shutout. We are having a very difficult time finishing our chances. We have to find a way to score goals."
The loss leaves the Royals still in search of their first MIAC victory as they fall to 0-2-1 in the conference and 1-5-2 overall. Bethel hosts a big matchup with the Carleton College Knights on Tuesday afternoon at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex with a 4 p.m. start time.
