ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Bethel University's softball team improved to 20-12 on the season and 9-3 in conference play with Tuesday's sweep over Concordia College. The Royals topped the Cobbers 11-0 in the opener and came back to defeat Concordia 3-1 in Tuesday's closer.

Lindsay Edeen improved her individual record to 9-6 on the season and lowered her ERA to 2.44, as she pitched a five-inning shutout in game one of Tuesday's twin bill. Edeen allowed just four hits and zero walks against the Cobbers.

Kal Sorensen,
Jessica Brown,
Kelsey Anderson, and
Micayla Moore each had a multi-hit effort in just four innings of at-bats. Kal Sorensen had an incredible day, as she finished 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI. Sorensen's three-run home run in the first inning gave Bethel an immediate 4-0 lead after the first frame.
Micayla Moore and
Angie Jackson each drove in a pair of runs, while
Jessica Brown and
Kelsey Anderson each scored twice.

Karli Persson picked up her eighth win of the season and sixth consecutive by allowing just one run on five hits. Persson struck out nine and walked none in the complete-game performance.

Bethel mustered just four hits from four different players in the second game.
Kalyn Sorensen's second home run of the day put BU ahead 1-0 in the first, and despite the Cobbers evening the score at one after two innings of play,
Abbie Bircher's two-run single with two outs in the third gave the Royals their eventual 3-1 advantage.

With four doubleheaders left in the regular season, BU stands just two games back of first place. The Royals begin the final stretch with a home twin bill against Augsburg Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and then travel to Gustavus and Hamline before ending at home with Carleton College at Ona Orth Complex.Â
