Royals Extend Home Winning Streak to 12 in 75-66 Win over Cobbers

ARDEN HILLS, Minn.—Bethel University's men's basketball team began conference play with a bang Saturday afternoon, as the Royals (6-0, 1-0 MIAC) routed Concordia College at home 75-66. BU held a 16-point lead with 8:47 remaining in the game and cruised to a nine-point victory over the Cobbers (3-4, 0-2 MIAC). Bethel's win marked their 12th consecutive at home and sixth-straight to start a season—a new program record.

Where the Royals excelled was off the bench, as BU's second rotation dominated Concordia's by a final line of 30-12. Bethel forced the Cobbers into 16 turnovers, opposed to their 11, which led to an 18-6 difference in points off turnovers.

BU finished the game shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 47.6 percent from downtown. Junior guard Trevor Hall played outstanding, scoring 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a 3-of-7 mark from downtown. Hall added five assists, four rebounds, and two steals to his final stat line.

Jared Nelson poured in 15 points, thanks primarily to a 4-of-7 mark from outside the arc. Derek Magnuson manufactured his second career double-double with a 13-point, 10-rebound, and two-steal effort. Amongst his 10 boards were four offensive and six defensive. Also scoring in double figures was Aden Casey, who dropped 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting and 2-of-2 from beyond the 3-point arc.

The Royals continue their season Wednesday night at home, when they host Gustavus Adolphus at 7 p.m.
