BLAINE, Minn. - The Bethel University women's hockey team defeated St. Catherine's University Friday night by a score of 3-0, earning the Royals their third conference victory and providing the clean sweep over the Wildcats. Sophomore goaltender Michelle Klimstra was stellar in net stopping all 21 shots she saw, recording her second shutout this season.

The Royals and Wildcats were both held scoreless for the first seven minutes of the first period until the12:23mark, when Briita Nelson got the Royals on the board with the beautiful wrist shot over the shoulder of Abbi White to give Bethel a 1-0 lead. The assist was awarded to Sarina Goos. The Royals struck again at18:54in the first period when Caroline Kivisto carried the puck into the Wildcats zone and sniped White, glove side. Natalie Simons was credited with the assist. After a gritty and hard fought second period, Bethel continued to lead 2-0 until Wendy Roberts scored the empty-net dagger to put the Royals up 3-0 with 28 seconds left in the game. Bethel was phenomenal on the penalty kill, killing all six of the Wildcats power plays.

The Royals improve to 3-1-2 in conference play, 3-4-2 overall. Bethel will be back in action next Saturday, December 12th, when they travel east on I-94 to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to take on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds at Hobbs Ice Arena. The puck will drop at 2pm.
