No. 11 Royals Knock Off No. 4 UW-River Falls 6-3

BLAINE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's hockey team returned to their home ice Saturday afternoon and took down the No. 4 ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls by a 6-3 score. The No. 11 ranked Royals scored two goals each in all three periods. Lindsay Burman scored twice and added two assists while Caroline Kivisto had four assists for Bethel. In all eight different Royals tallied points on the day.

Bethel scored first just two and a half minutes into the game when Erin Harper sniped one in with Burman and Kivisto assisting. Four minutes later the Falcons scored a power play goal to tie it up at 1-1. Megan Nickel scored Bethel's second first period goal at 13:36 with Briita Nelson and Kathryn Larson assisting. The Falcons tied it back up at 2-2 at 5:58 in the second period. Two minutes later the Royals took back the lead at 3-2 when Kivisto and Burman teamed up. Bethel then separated themselves with a short-handed goal by Kathryn Larson at 13:43. Burman and Harper assisted Larson as the Royals built a two-goal lead. The Falcons were able to strike back on their power play, however, as they scored 27 seconds later to get back to 4-3. That would be as close as UWRF would come as Bethel pulled away in the third period scoring the games final two goals. Burman scored her second goal while Natalie Simons concluded the Royals scoring at 16:37. Kivisto assisted on both goals with Kalie Johnson also assisting on Simons score.

After allowing UWRF to get off 38 shots on Friday night the Falcons were limited to just 18 in Saturday's game. The Royals totaled 23 shots while Michelle Klimstra made 15 saves in goal.
