Box Score
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - The Bethel University women's soccer team found themselves in an early hole and unable to climb out in a 3-1 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Three goals in the first 30 minutes for the Blugolds was too much for the Royals to overcome.
Julia Perkins scored Bethel's lone goal, her second of the season with five and a half minutes remaining in the first half to cut the lead to two but the Royals were unable to find the back of the net the remainder of the way.
Micale Jensen and the Royals defense were able to pitch a shutout in the second half also. Jensen made seven saves in the game. Bethel was 18-7 in the game and 11-1 in the scoreless second half.
The Royals will now travel to Carleton as they face a stiff test from the Knights in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match. Carleton is currently 2-0 in MIAC play. Last season Bethel picked up their first win in program history over the Knights by a score of 3-2. The match will begin at 1 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
