ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team fell at home to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls by a 2-1 score Monday afternoon. The Royals and Falcons played to a 0-0 draw in the first half and the Falcons struck early in the second half to take the lead for good. Bethel's
Olivia Haggerty scored her first goal of the season for Bethel with just under seven minutes remaining in the game.
At the 47:50 mark the Alex Swatloski scored and later added her second goal at 74:47 to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. After some missed opportunities, Haggerty's goal brought the Royals within one but the Falcons were able to hold off the Royals and claim the 2-1 victory. Each team got off 17 shots in the game. UW-River Falls put 11 of shots on goal with nine by the Royals being online.
Micale Jensen made eight saves for Bethel.
The loss drops the Royals to 2-4 on the year while UW-River Falls improved to 3-5. Bethel will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Eau Claire, Wis. to take on the Bluegolds of UW-Eau Claire. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
