ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team got back to their winning ways on Saturday, defeating the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse by a score of 1-0. Sophomore
Julia Perkins scored the lone goal of the afternoon in the 59
th minute and that would prove to be the difference, giving Bethel the win.
Both teams were evenly matched throughout the first half until Perkins broke the stalemate as she bent a long range shot just beyond the reach of La Crosse's goalie, Ashley Tracy. The goal was Perkins' first as a Royal. Freshman
Mikala Smith was credited with the assist on Perkins goal, her third of the season.
The win improves Bethel's record to 2-1-0 on the season, and they look to stay above .500 on Wednesday as the open up play in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) against St. Olaf at 4 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
