UW-Eau Claire defeats Rusty Royals 9-0

The Royals returned to the court for their first action in 23 days

EAU CLAIRE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's tennis team traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and were defeated 9-0 by the Blugolds. The match was played indoors in UW-Eau Claire's fieldhouse and was the Royals first action in 23 days.
“It wasn't our best tennis,” Royals head coach Drew Fernelius said. “The girls were really rusty after the long layoff, having not played since spring break but hopefully we will rebound and keep working to compete in the MIAC.”

Steph Brown was the only Bethel player to win a set against the Blugolds at No. 3 singles, but fell 6-0, 4-6, 10-2. The Royals No. 3 doubles team of Kayla Wheeler and Abby Kreklau played a very competitive match, falling 8-6. With the win the Blugolds improved to 15-2 and the Royals fell to 6-6.

Next up for Bethel is a return to MIAC play with a match next Saturday against Gustavus. The Royals and Gusties will square of in St. Peter, Minn.
