Royals Close Out 2013 Season With 1-0 Victory

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team finished their 2013 season on a high note with a 1-0 win at home over the College of St. Catherine. Olivia Haggerty scored the Royals lone goal in the second period to give the Royals the victory. Freshman Micale Jensen and the Royals defense posted their sixth shutout of the season.

Bethel outshot St. Kate's 17-5, putting 10 shots on goal to just three for the Wildcats. Haggerty's goal came at the 67:57 mark in the second period and was assisted by Mikala Smith.

The win improved Bethel to 7-10-1 on the year and dropped St. Catherine to 7-11. Bethel finished with a 3-6-1 mark in MIAC play. The Royals lost three of their six games in conference play in overtime and four of the losses were by one goal. The young squad will look to carry the momentum into the 2014 season. The win marked the final game in the career of Bethel's lone senior, Suzette Anderson, who put two shots on goal in the game.
