Box Score

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The Bethel University women's hockey team went on the road and flipped the outcome from Friday's loss to the No. 6 ranked Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons, winning 5-3. The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period and never looked back. Caroline Kivisto, after scoring twice on Friday, scored two more goals Saturday, both on the power play in the third period. Despite being outshot 30-23 for the game the Royals made the most of their opportunities, scoring their first period 1-0 lead while taking just three shots in the period.

Freshman Kathryn Larson was able to score the Royals first goal and the first of her career just under six minutes into the game. The former Mounds View High School standout was assisted by fellow freshman Megan O'Brian and Megan Niblock. Cristina Masten, who is no rookie when it comes to scoring, put the Royals up 2-0 when she scored her first goal of her senior season just 31 seconds into the second period. She was assited by Hannah Williams and Kalie Johnson. Just over a minute later Lindsay Burman scored her second goal of the year with assists from Larson and O'Brian.

UW-River Falls and their potent offense then made a push to get back in the game as the scored twice within three minutes to pull just a goal back at 3-2. The game would stay there heading to the third period as Erika Allen made 16 saves in the second period, despite the two goals to keep the Royals in front. The third period turned into the Kivisto show as the sophomore scored twice, once before and once after, the Falcons third and final goal. Both goals came on Bethel power plays and both were assisted by Cristina Masten and Kalie Johnson.
The Falcons committed six penalties in the game, spending 12 minutes in the penalty box while Bethel committed four penalties for eight minutes.

The Royals will now take two weeks off before returning to action on November 15th at home against Augsburg College as they open up MIAC play. The puck will drop at 7 p.m. at the Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn.
