Box Score

ST. PETER, Minn. - The Bethel University women's soccer team fell on the road 2-1 to Gustavus Adolphus College on a foggy afternoon in St. Peter, Minn. The Gusties scored once in each half before the Royals were able to get on the scoreboard when Julia Perkins was able to put one home for Bethel near the end of the game.

The game was scoreless for the first 31 minutes as Bethel goalie Micale Jensen, fresh off a school record 22 saves on Saturday, made five stops to keep the Gusties off the scoreboard. Gustavus finally cracked the freshman however when Amanda Cartony scored her seventh goal of the season at 31:03. Jensen would need to make just one more save over the next 50 minutes before the Gusties scored again late in the second half. Perkins goal for Bethel was unassisted and came with 2:36 remaining in the game.

The two squads combined for just 18 shots on the day with the Gusties holding a 10-7 advantage. Bethel was unable to get any shots on goal in the first half but put six on target in the second half including Perkins goal.

The loss drops Bethel to 2-7-1 in the MIAC and 6-10-1 overall. The Royals will return home to face St. Catherine's in the final game of the 2013 season on Saturday afternoon. The match will begin at 1 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
