ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team, led by a record setting effort by freshman goalie
Micale Jensen, battled to a 0-0 tie at home against Hamline University. Jensen broke the Royals single game record by making 22 saves to keep the Pipers off the scoreboard in 110 minutes of play.
The Royals were outshot by Hamline 35-10 but still had several good opportunities themselves putting seven shots on goal but were unable to capitalize. Jensen made five saves in the overtimes and several spectacular stops throughout the game. The previous program record of 20 saves was set back in 2005 by Charli Sorensen against St. Thomas.
The tie brings Bethel's record to 6-9-1 overall and 2-6-1 in MIAC play while Hamline is now 7-6-3 and 4-4-1. The Royals will travel to Gustavus Adolphus College on Wednesday in St. Peter, Minn., to take on the Golden Gusties before returning home for the season final next Saturday against St. Kate's.
