ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team made the short trek down Snelling Avenue to take on the University of Northwestern Eagles Tuesday afternoon and thoroughly controlled the match in a 3-0 victory. The Royals were able to put an incredible 32 shots on goal while limiting the Eagles to just one. The Royals tallied two first half goals and added a third in the second half.
Senior
Suzette Anderson got the Royals on the board when she scored off an assist from
Christa Heiligenthal at 16:37 in the first half. Heiligenthal then scored a goal of her own 20 minutes later. It was the fourth goal of the season for both Anderson and Heiligenthal. Early in the second half,
Jessica Huseby scored her team leading 8th goal of the year.
Micale Jensen and
Kathryn McGaffey each spent a period in the net for Bethel with McGaffey making the lone save for the Royals. For the game Bethel outshot UNW 43-1. Northwestern's Emily Johnson set a school record with 29 saves.
Bethel improves to 6-9 on the season and will return home for an MIAC battle with Hamline University on Saturday afternoon. The match will kick-off at 1 p.m. at the Ona Orth Athletic Complex.
