ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Bethel University women's soccer team ended a five game skid and picked up their first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory on Wednesday, defeating the University of St. Thomas by a score of 1-0 in overtime.

Defense and goalkeeping were the themes of the first half, as Bethel goalie Micale Jensen played exceptionally well, turning away eight Tommie shots. The lone score came in the fourth minute of overtime, when junior Christa Heiligenthal headed in a cross from Suzette Anderson for the win. It was Heiligenthal's third goal in the last two contests as she scored twice against Carleton on Saturday.

The Royals move to 3-6 (1-3 MIAC) on the season with the win, and will travel to Macalester College to face the Scots on Saturday at 1 p.m.
