Royals Drop 3-1 Tilt to Hamline on the Road

Bethel falls in St. Paul to league foe

ST. PAUL—Despite destroying Hamline University in the third set Friday night, Bethel University fell to the conference foe on the road 1-3. The Royals (11-14, 2-5 MIAC) upended the Pipers (15-10, 4-3 MIAC) 25-12 in the third set, but it wasn't enough as Hamline topped Bethel in four sets (20-25, 19-25, 25-12, 18-25).
 
Several players had exceptional performances in Friday's tilt, with Carlee Hoppe leading the way. Hoppe finished the league affair with 17 kills and a .273 hitting percentage, while recording 14 digs. Teammate Kali Johnson delivered 20 digs and two serving aces for the Royals.
 
Ashlyn Hucky also contributed 33 assists and 10 digs, while Nicole Ackatz amassed nine kills. Lindsay Kerr finished the match with four kills and five blocks.

Stephanie Kaup and Paige Walters each tallied 14 kills for the Pipers Friday night.

Bethel will host Carleton College Saturday night in the Robertson Center Gym. The teams will serve up the conference contest beginning at 6 p.m.
