INDIANOLA , Iowa –
After scoring five goals in their season opener the Bethel women's soccer team couldn't stick one in the back of the net Sunday afternoon at Simpson College, dropping a 1-0 decision. The Royals were able to get off 17 shots, eight on goal, but none were successful. Simpson scored their lone goal 37 minutes into the first period and held off a strong second half push by the Royals to hold on to the victory. The Royals attempted seven shots and four corner kicks over the last 25 minutes while the Storm did not attempt any. For the game, the Royals outshot the Storm 17-9, while the shots on goal were even at eight.

“Friday we did a better job of getting behind the back line,” head coach Amanda Maxwell explained. “Today we played hard and had a ton of chances but were too predictable. The girls finished strong and never gave up.”

Next up for the Bethel women is a trip to La Crosse, Wisconsin to battle the Eagles of UW-La Crosse. The Eagles have started the season 0-2 losing both games by 1-0 scores. The match is set to start at 6 p.m.
