MATCH RESUTLS
NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethel University women's tennis program traveled to Northfield, Minn. Wednesday evening for a makeup match against St. Olaf University. The Royals, despite several close matches, fell 8-1 in the second to last competition of the 2012 season. With the loss, BU falls to 6-12 overall (1-7 MIAC), and will play its final battle against Gustavus Saturday, April 28.
The only match victory Wednesday came in the number three doubles, where
Amanda Johnson (So., Vadnais Heights, Minn.) and
Charise Kendrick (So., Scandia, Minn.) defeated the Oles' third doubles duo. The doubles victory gives the BU pair a 6-6 record while in competition, which happens to be tied for first in winning percentage among Bethel teammates. The other team tied for first in winning percentage,
Kayla Wheeler (Jr., Oakdale, Minn.) and
Kristin Vivian (Fr., Green Bay, Wis.), lost a 4-8 match in the number two contest.
The Royals lost each singles match, yet
Steph Brown (Jr., Lake City, MInn.) contested her opponent in a 6-7, 6-0 number two singles match. Wheeler also took her foe to a third set, but fell in the end 1-6, 6-3, 6-10.
St. Olaf improves to 7-2 in the MIAC with the victory and 10-2 overall.
