VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. – Finding themselves behind 2-1 after the first period, the Bethel University women's hockey team tallied three unanswered goals, to record a 4-2 victory at Hamline University. Biz Huss and Cristina Masten took turns scoring all four of Bethel's goals as the dynamic duo led the Royals to their second consecutive MIAC victory.

“We got off to a slow start but built momentum as the game wore on,” Royals head coach Brian Carlson said. “We battled hard and capitalized on our scoring chances and then had two big penalty kills in the third period.”

Huss scored the games first goal just 1:24 into the first period but Hamline scored a pair of power play goals to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission. In the second period Masten scored her first goal on a Bethel power play to tie the game up. Kalie Johnson and Lindsay Burman assisted. The game would remain tied until Huss put the Royals on top midway through the third period. Just after the Huss goal, Hamline was able to go on their second power play of the period. Bethel was able to kill it off, allowing just two shots, after not allowing the Pipers to attempt a single shot in the first power play early in the period. Bethel goalie Jess Newstrom, the reigning MIAC Women's Hockey Athlete of the Week, made 24 saves in goal for the Royals. With just four seconds left in the game Masten completed the scoring for the Royals after teaming up again with Johnson and Burman.

With the victory Bethel improves to 2-2-1 in MIAC play while Hamline falls to 0-4-1. The two teams will come to the Bethel University Arena Saturday afternoon with a 3 p.m. start time.
