Royals Slip Against Concordia

BU Loses 2-0 to Cobbers

BOX SCORE

MOORHEAD, Minn. - In an attempt to build a two-game win streak, Bethel fell 2-0 to Concordia in Moorhead, Minnesota Friday night. Despite out-shooting the Cobbers in the first period, BU could not muster an offensive attack that put the puck in the net. Concordia on the other hand, managed one goal in both the second and third period, and the Royals were never able to overcome the deficit.

Bethel's defense proved to be exceptionally tough, as Concordia did not score its first goal until there was six minutes remaining in the second period. At that point BU allowed Chris Beede to slice the puck into the net for a power play goal, giving Concordia the 1-0 advantage. The Cobbers posted its second goal of the game in the third period with even numbers at the 16-minute mark. From then on, neither team put the puck in the net.

Jack Paul (Jr., Minnetonka, Minn.) led the Royals Friday night with four shots on the Cobber goalie, while Tyler Swanson (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) tallied three. A cluster of Royal players posted two shots in a 24-shot effort for BU.

Dan Harper (So., Blaine, Minn.) received the start in the net for Bethel University and fell to 1-3 on the year with the loss. Harper tallied 26 total saves with nine coming in the first, seven in the second, and 10 in the third.

Harper and the Royals will try to salvage their weekend at Concordia College by taking the second of two conference games Saturday, when they take on the Cobbers for the weekend double header at 2 p.m. Last week the Royals were able to successfully take advantage of the one-day turnaround, so fans will look to see if BU can do it again.
