BOX SCORE
BLAINE, Minn. - Friday night's game began with a rough start as the Bethel Men's Hockey team went down by three goals in the first period. The battle was hard-fought against the #10 ranked Hamline University Pipers. Though there were many chances and the gameplay was even, the Royals were unable to recover from the three goal deficit and lost with a final score of 6-3.
The Hamline University Pipers came out strong in the first period and with loaded sticks put three pucks past Bethel Goaltender Cary Wood. Penalty trouble in the first lead to three advantages for the Pipers where two goals were scored.
In the second period the Royals began to push back. It was
Jack Paul who answered Hamline with his 14th goal of the season from
Austin Hatch and Christian Fogerty. The first goal of the season for
Jake Calleja was also scored from
Austin Hatch and
Garrett Windle. However, the Pipers also managed to score three goals in the second leaving Bethel down 6-2.
There wasn't much scoring to talk about in the third period as the Hamline University Pipers put on their defensive gear. A late third period goal brought the Royals back within 3 by
Tyler Sorensen from
Jack Paul and
Jake Kogler.
The Royals play the Pipers again, tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in the Warner Coliseum.
