ST. JOSEPH Minn. - On Wednesday the Bethel Royals were in action against conference rival St. Benedict. The Blazer won the match winning three out of four sets. However the Royals did not go quietly, keeping the score of each set to within 7 points. In the final set the Royals rallied from being down 24-19 to tie the set at 24. The Royals were able to keep everyone on the edge of their seats before getting an unlucky bounce off the net to ultimately end up dropping the final set 27-25.
Key players for the Royals included
Amy Werner (So., Three Lakes, Wis.) and
Nicole Wriedt (Jr., Pewaukee, Wis.) who had 13 and 11 kills respectively. Valerie Smith (So., Alexandria, Minn.) lead the defense with 16 digs. The Royals record now stands at 4-9, 0-2.
The Royals will be in action Saturday returning home to Robertson Center to host the St. Thomas Tommies. The Tommies come into the match ranked 15th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) national poll.
