ST. PAUL, Minn. -
The Bethel Royals women's tennis team resumed conference play this weekend upon return from Florida on their annual Spring Break trip. Unfortunately for the Royals, the Macalester Scots played spoiler as the Royals fell 5-4.

The Royals got off to a hot start on the day, as the team won two of the three matches in doubles competition. Lisa Scheevel (Fr., St. Cloud, Minn.) and Steph Brown (Fr., Lake City, Minn.) won in number one doubles while the duo of Heather Ritger (Sr., Glenwood, Minn.) and Ashley Dohlen (Sr., Morris, Minn.) emerged victorious in number two doubles.

Unfortunately for the Royals, the Scots grabbed all the momentum in singles play, winning the first four matches in the singles competition. Krista Nauman (So., Buffalo, Minn.) and Ashley Watts (Sr., Winona, Minn.) played well and earned victories on the day with Nauman winning 7-6, 6-1 and Watts winning 6-1, 6-2.

With today's loss, the Royals move to 3-9 overall, and 0-6 in MIAC play while Macalester improves to 9-4 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Royals will be back in action Friday April 9, as they are set to visit the Winona State Warriors for a non-conference match. Match time is set for 6 pm.
