ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The Men's Hockey team played St. John's University last night in a non-conference game which resulted in a 3-2 loss. The Royals scored first and last, but a three-goal effort by St. John's kept them in the lead. Bethel was highly penalized and was unable to rack up substantial scoring chances as the shots recorded were 32-17 in favor of the Johnies.
Josh Simi started the scoring off against St. John's from
Colin Mayer and Tyler Sorenson. This was a late first period goal and was answered eight minutes later by St. John's. All three of the Johnies goals were scored in the second period as they out shot Bethel 13-3 and were able to convert on a power play opportunity.
The Royals were not going to go down without a fight and managed to drive another shot into the net from
Garrett Windle from
Chris Fiala and
Jake Calleja. The Royals were unable to convert with an empty net and ended up short in this exhibition.
They go on the road this weekend for a game against Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. Face-off is at 8:05 p.m. on Friday, December 10th and 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 11th.
