Men's Hockey Faces Setback From Concorida in MIAC Showcase

BLAINE, Minn. - The Royals faced off against Concordia College in their second game of the MIAC Showcase Saturday. The Bethel men put up quite the fight for the Cobbers mounting to come back in which they were able to tie the match before ultimately going down 6-4.

The first and third periods were the most action packed seeing 9 of the 10 goals scored in those two periods. The Cobbers got out quick on the Royals scoring twice early in the first period, and also scored a third goal while on a power play, leaving the Royals down 3-2 going into the second period. Both Garrett Windle (Fr., Downingtown, Pa.) and Jack Paul (So., Minnetonka, Minn.) put up scores for the Royals in the first period.

In the second period Christian Fogerty (Sr., Forest Lake, Minn.) was the lone scorer for either team, scoring on a power play at just over the 13 minute mark. Fogerty had 4 shots on the night.

Going into the 3rd period tied the Royals looked promising, but the Cobbers got two quick goals before the clock hit the 3 minute mark, putting the Royals down 3-5. Then at just over the six minute mark Paul on an assist from Jake Calleja (So., New Richmond, Wis.) scored the Royals 4th goal of the night. The Royals then kept things close until the 12 minute mark when the Cobbers Jared Collen put them at a 2 score deficit and setting the final score at 6-4.

The Royals were able to out shot the Cobber 37-29 on the night. Goalie Cary Wood (Jr., Maplewood, Minn.) had 23 saves on the night.

The Royals will be in action again this coming Friday when they face off against UW-Steven's Point for their first home game of the year.
