ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Ross Petterson has been selected as the MIAC defensive player of the week.
Petterson got things rolling in Bethel's 17-14 victory over St. John's on Saturday when he grabbed in interception off of St. John's quarterback Joe Boyle and returned it 28 yards for the first touchdown of the game.
Petterson also had 6 total tackles on the day, 5 of which were solo tackles. After getting off to a quick start thanks to Petterson the Royals went up 17-0 at half time over the Johnnies. In the second half the Royals defense was able to hold the Johnnies to 14 points and come away with the victory. With the win the Royals move to 5-0 and are now 23rd in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll.
This coming weekend the Royals will host Gustavus for what should be a good homecoming match-up in front of a large home crowd. The Gusties come into the game with an overall record of 3-2 and are 2-1 in the MIAC.
