Women's Soccer Holds Macalester Close in Double Overtime

Royals battle 2nd double overtime of the week

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Coming off of an impressive week the Royals faced stiff competition from the Macalester Scots. The Scots took the Royals into their second double overtime of the week. Half way though the second overtime the Scots were able to come away with a game ending shot.

Molly Miller (So., Denver, Colo.) got the scoring started with just under five minutes left in the first period. The Royals then lead the Scots until  the 66 minute mark of the second period when Maggie Molter scored for Macalester. The match would remain tied through the end of regulation and the first overtime. With just over five minutes left in the second overtime period Macalester's Lauryn Gutierrez scored to end the match.

Other statistical leaders for the Royals included Kelsey Flaherty (So., Shoreview, Minn.) had 10 shots 3 of which where shots on goal. Sophie Christiansen (Jr., Portland, Ore.) had two shots on goal.

The 5-3-2 Royals will host non-conference opponent UW-Stout on Tuesday at the Ona Orth athletic complex.
