ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - It was another day of tough competition for the Bethel women's tennis team as they took on Hamline in their final MIAC match of the season. And while there were many close decisions, including one super tiebreaker by
Kristin Kishaba (Sr., Eau Claire, Minn.), the team eventually fell to Pipers 6-3.
In singles play
Krista Nauman (Fr., Buffalo, Minn.) defeated her opponent handily, finishing at 7-5, 6-1. Unfortunately, she was the only Royal to pull out a win, though others certainly made the Pipers work for every point. Kishaba ended 6-7, 7-5, 7-10, and fellow teammate Heather Blair (Jr., Glenwood, Minn.) finished on the losing end of a 6-4, 3-6, 8-10 decision.
Doubles, however, were a different story, and two Bethel pairs came away with the victory. Number two doubles
Ashley Dohlen (Jr., Morris, Minn.) and Blair finished 8-6, and the number three duo, Nauman and
Stefanie Erlander (So., Excelsior, Minn.) ended 8-5.
The loss drops Bethel to an overall record of 1-14 and a MIAC record of 0-10. Hamline sits at a 3-13 overall and 2-8 conference record. The Royals are now looking towards their last match of the season, which is scheduled to be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. when they take on UW-Stout at the Ona Orth Complex.
