MOORHEAD, Minn. - It was a frustrating day for the Royals today as they took on the Cobbers in another difficult conference match up. While there were several contests that ended closely, ultimately Bethel fell to Concordia 9-0.
LeRoyce Chapman (Sr., Elk River, Minn.) was the only Royal able to force her challenger into a third set in singles, and she finished 7-6, 7-5, 6-4. Of the thirteen sets Bethel played in singles, each player managed to win several games off their opponent.
In doubles, the contests were much closer.
Ashley Dohlen (Jr., Morris, Minn.) and Heather Blair (Jr., Glenwood, Minn.) pushed their match into a tiebreaker, and they ended 9-8, 8-6. Each of the other two duos got four games from the Concordia Cobbers.
The loss drops the Royals to 1-13 overall and 0-9 in conference, while Concordia moves up to 4-5 in the MIAC and 12-6 overall. Bethel looks forward to their final MIAC match of the 2009 season, which is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Ona Orth Complex against Hamline.
