FLORIDA - The Bethel women's tennis team spent their spring break in Florida, soaking up the sun and a victory along the way. They took on three different collegiate teams this past week,
finishing with a 1-2 record. Though they defeated
Webber International University earlier in the trip, they also lost to UW-La Crosse 1-8 and to
Otterbein College 4-5.
The week began positively for the Royals, as they defeated Webber International University by a score of 8-1. But as the week wore on the women weren't able to scrape out another victory.
In singles this week, it was
Krista Nauman (Fr.,
Buffalo, Minn.) who took the lead, winning all three of her matches
. She was the only player to win in singles against UW - La Crosse, finsihing 7-6, 6-3. Heather Blair (Jr.,
Glenwood, Minn.) also won a singles match, walking away against Otterbein with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.
In doubles,
Kristin Kishaba (Sr.,
Eau Claire,
Wis.) and
LeRoyce Chapman (Sr.,
Elk River, Minn.) came away with a victory against Otterbein, winning 8-5. Against the same opponent, Blair and
Ashley Dohlen (Jr., Morris,
Minn.) succeeded in winning 8-6.
As the Royals adjust to the strikingly different temperature here in Minnesota, they look forward to playing Saint Mary's University on Saturday at 9 a.m. at an indoor facility in Fridley, Minn. They will enter that match with an overall record of 1-6 and a conference record of 0-3.
