Box Score

DE PERE, Wis. - Less than four minutes into tonight's game with St. Norbert, Bethel took a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the lead did not last long, and the Green Knights showed why they are the #11 team in the nation by scoring eight goals in a row before Bethel finally answered again with seven minutes remaining.

The Royals, playing their first of a pair of road games in Wisconsin, got their lead from Christian Fogerty (Jr., Forest Lake, Minn.), assisted by Chaz Gerads (So., Blaine, Minn.). Less than three minutes later, the score was tied, and just over three minutes after that, St. Norbert had the lead at 2-1. Before the period was over, the Green Knights had all they would need to defeat the Royals tonight.

Bethel finally caught a break at the 12:57 mark of the third period when Jon Crouse (Fr., Alexandria, Minn.) scored his first collegiate goal on a power play, assisted by goalie Zac Bush (Fr., Tyler, Texas). However, that's when all scoring stopped, leaving the game at 8-2 in favor of the hosting team.

St. Norbert took 45 shots on Bethel goalies Michael Sperl (Fr., Little Falls, Minn.) and Bush, who split time in the net tonight. Bethel managed to fire off 21 shots on goal, with 12 of them coming in the final period alone. The Royals were penalized 10 times, while the Green Knights amassed 11 penalties.

The loss drops Bethel to 0-3 on the season, while St. Norbert improves to 4-0. The competition doesn't get much easier for the Royals on their road trip as they face UW-Stevens Point tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. Stevens Point received votes in the latest USCHO.com national poll, but is not among the top 20 teams.
