ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - In a must win match for the Bethel women's volleyball team, the Royals took down the Saint Mary's Cardinals 3-1 in their final regular season home match. Bethel came out strong winning the first set 25-20. The Royals fell behind early in the set, only to claw their way back with a 12-3 run mid-way through the set.

Bethel used that momentum in the second set to once again win 25-20. Saint Mary's started out with any early two point lead, only to see that slip away quickly as Bethel took the lead at the six point mark and control the set from there on out.

Looking to put away the Cardinals for good in the third set, the Royals lost a tight one by the score of 25-27. The set was neck-and-neck throughout with Saint Mary's just pulling ahead at the end to force a fourth set at the Robertson Center.

It was evident the Royals weren't going to allow this match to slip away as they started the fourth set with an early lead. Bethel was in the driver's seat from the get-go and they went on to take the fourth and final set 25-20 and win the match.

Bethel had consistent play throughout the match as Amy Werner (Fr., Three Lakes, Wis.), Nicole Wriedt (So., Pewaukee, Wis.), and Brianna Falck (Jr., DeForest, Wis.) all finished with double-digit kill totals. Werner and Wriedt led the team with 14 apiece and Falck had 11. Kate Smith led the Royals in assists with 40, and Valerie Smith(Fr., Alexandria, Minn.)and Hannah Parks(Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) had 15 and 10 digs respectively.

With the win the Royals improve to 3-6 in the MIAC and 12-15 overall. The Royals have now won five of their last seven matches, including three conference matches in a row. Bethel will wrap up the regular season this week as they take on Macalester and Hamline. Both games are away.
