ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -
The Bethel Royals have been playing some good basketball of late, as evidenced by their fifth win in a row today. They defeated the visiting Concordia Cobbers in the Robertson Center gymnasium 67-59 to stay in sole possession of second place in a very tight MIAC race.

Bethel led 29-19 at the half, and already at that point Mike Moberg (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) had his eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He would go on to lead all scorers with 17 points and 19 rebounds. The Royals never trailed past the five minute mark of the first half, and extended their lead to as many as 14 with five minutes left to play.

Cory Laugen (Sr., Blaine, Minn.) had 16 points of his own to help the cause, while both Tim Madson (Sr., Redwood Falls, Minn.) and Rob Lang (Jr., Johnston, Iowa) had 11 points as Bethel's other two double-digit scorers. For Lang, it marked a season high.

Concordia was led by Erik Lien with 13 points and by John Fraase who also had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

As a team, Bethel made 42.6 percent of their shots from the floor and went 12-for-18 from the free throw line. Concordia made just 36 percent of their shots, but was able to stay in the game by making 45 percent of their three-pointers.

With the win, Bethel improves to 15-5 overall and 10-4 in the MIAC, while Concordia falls to 7-12 overall and 4-10 in conference play. The Royals are scheduled to return to the court next Wednesday to take on Hamline beginning at 7:30 p.m. at home.
