ARDEN HILLS, Minn. - Playing a tight game against the Macalester Scots the whole night the Bethel Royals were able to gain a slight lead on their opponent in the beginning of the second half, but as the clock wound down the Scots pulled away and walked out with a  63-55 victory over the Royals.

Leaving the court for half time, the Royals were behind three points, but came out firing in the second half gaining as much as a seven point lead on the Scots.  As Bethel was beginning to open up the game, turnovers became their worst enemy and gave Macalester an opportunity to climb back into the game and eventually take the lead.

The Royals leading scorers came from their players in the paint, as forward Erica Hormig (Sr., Windom, Minn.) and center Annegret Nautsch (Sr., Everett, Wash.) both had 13 points.  Naustch  also achieved her third double-double of the season equaling her points with rebounds, racking up 13 in the game. Nautsch is just 15 points away from reaching the 1,000-point plateau in her collegiate career.

The Scots were led by Ann Baltzer with 15 points and eight rebounds along with Jessica Rene who had 14 points in the game.

The Royals are now 1-2 in MIAC play and 2-2 overall while the Scots sit at 3-0 in MIAC play and 5-1 overall.  Bethel is scheduled to take on St. Catherine Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn., for their next game.
